12/07/12: FAO; jungle perch is back and more...

Hello,

  • Earlier this week Reuters ran a report about the rise of aquaculture.  The story was picked up by various news outlets including the Huffington Post.  A few days later, and the story has gone truly global with many, much smaller, local newspapers and websites reacting to it.  It's encouraging to see aquaculture getting some attention from mainstream press. This article from djournal gives a clear overview of the rise and rise of global aquaculture.

  • Jungle perch could be making a comeback in Queensland, Australia.  The Department of Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry has received AU$483,000 from the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation to accelerate fingerling production.  Read more...
