Tasmania's oyster farmers are appealing to the State and Federal Governments for help in the face of an epidemic that is wiping out large swathes of their crop, ABC News reports.

Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS) is a viral infection that kills Pacific oysters only, but does so in a matter of hours.
